Ruzicka

Description Document Name Size
Passenger manifest of the S.S. Neckar, dated 5-Sep-1874. Page 2 of the document lists the Ruzicka family. S.S. Neckar Passenger Manifest.pdf 484 Kb
Marriage license of John W. Ruzicka and Josephine S. Nohejl, dated 16-Apr-1878. On one page you can see another marriage license document tucked in behind the current copy. The Nebraska State Historical Society informed me that a complete copy of that document is not available. John W. Ruzicka Marriage License.pdf 2.017 Mb
1880 Federal Census of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, dated 4-Jun-1880. The Ruzicka family appears right at the top of the page. You can also see their neighbours the Jablechnik's which I am certain are relatives. The document has been split into two pages as the library systems only allow printing on 8½" x 11" paper. 1880 Census, Omaha, NE.pdf 852 Kb
Marriage license of Joseph A. Ruzicka and Josephine Joura, dated 21-Nov-1882. I am open to discussion on this document. Personally I am 100% convinced it documents their marriage. I say that for a number of reasons. One, misspellings of family names was extremely common in the 1800s. Two, the date of the marriage exactly matches the date we believe that Joseph and Josephine were married. Three, Joseph lists his mother's name as Annie Tomiska which matches the marriage licenses of other family members. Joseph A. Ruzicka Marriage License.pdf 390 Kb
Marriage license of Mary Ruzicka and Joseph Nemec, dated 01-May-1883. Mary Ruzicka Marriage License.pdf 1.322 Mb
Marriage license of Anne Ruzicka and Vaclav (John) Svoboda, dated 06-Jan-1889. This is a great document - discovered by Carol Nemec - that opens up a new branch of the family tree that we have very little information on. Anne Ruzicka Marriage License.pdf 472 Kb
1900 Federal Census of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma Territory, dated 5-Jun-1900. 15 year old Bessie Ruzicka is on line 87. This is a great find because Bessie's name is not noted with the rest of the family that was enumerated 4 days later - possibly because they knew she had already been counted. 1900 Census, Yukon, OK (Bessie).pdf 1.914 Mb
1900 Federal Census of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma Territory, dated 9-Jun-1900. The Joseph A. Ruzicka family starts near the middle of the page. Notice that the Vaclav Slavik family was living in Yukon at the same time. The document has been split into two pages as the library systems only allow printing on 8½" x 11" paper. 1900 Census, Yukon, OK (Ruzicka).pdf 880 Kb
1900 Federal Census of South Creek, Lincoln County, Oklahoma Territory, dated 22-Jun-1900. The John W. Ruzicka family starts at the bottom of the page. The document has been split into two pages as the library systems only allow printing on 8½" x 11" paper. 1900 Census, South Creek, OK.pdf 982 Kb
Land record of the South Creek Township, Oklahoma Territory, dated 1903. The record shows the land ownership of John W. Ruzicka. Go across to the 5th column and down to the 5th row. Notice the other surname on the page that also shows up in the family tree - Pospisil. John W. Ruzicka Land Record.pdf 459 Kb
Marriage license of Bill Ruzicka and Frances Brezny, dated 13-Jan-1906. Bill Ruzicka Marriage License.pdf 219 Kb
Certificate of Marriage of Bill Ruzicka and Frances Brezny, dated 15-Jan-1906. Bill Ruzicka Marriage Certificate.pdf 238 Kb
Alberta land documents dated 1907. The records show the land ownership of John W. Ruzicka. John W. Ruzicka Land Documents.pdf 2.184 Mb
Dominion of Canada Certificate of Naturalization of Bill Ruzicka dated 23-Mar-1908. The document also lists the location of the land that Bill farmed at the time - which is the same land listed in John William's ownership records - and tells us he had been in Canada for at least 3 years. This is interesting because only 2 years earlier he was married in Oklahoma. Bill Ruzicka Certificate of Naturalization.pdf 158 Kb
1910 Federal Census of South Creek, Lincoln County, Oklahoma, dated 22-Apr-1910. The Joseph A. Ruzicka family starts at the top of the page. It is interesting to note that the 1900 census lists Sophia and Lillian as being born in Oklahoma. This census lists them as being born in Nebraska. Then the 1920 census lists their birthplace as Oklahoma. 1910 Census, South Creek, OK.pdf 1.180 Mb
Regimental documents of Louis Anthony Dobry obtained from the National Archives of Canada. Dated 1916 - 1917. Louis A. Dobry WWI Military Records.pdf 2.722 Mb

The document reads, "On the 9th of March, 1923, Josephine Sophia Ruzicka departed from Grand Forks, she was buried on the 10th of March, 1923, in the Grand Forks, B.C., cemetery." A Latin word list can be found here. Josephine Ruzicka Burial Record.pdf 63 Kb

Slavik

Description Document Name Size
Marriage record / license of James Slavik and Antonia Urban Veseley dated 12-Nov-1886. Filed in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Jim Slavik Marriage License.pdf 459 Kb
Oklahoma Territory land run record recording the claim of Jim Slavik dated 29-Apr-1889. This document shows our ancestor's participation in the first Oklahoma Terriory land run which began on 22-Apr-1889. Jim Slavik OK Land Run.pdf 495 Kb
1890 State Census of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma, dated 18-Jun-1890, showing the family of James Slavik. This document is a huge find as no federal census data exists for 1890 - all records were lost in a fire in the early 20th century. The research assistant wrote the following on the back, "1890 Census. The enumerator ran out of forms. He had been here 13 months and the family 12 months. I think the seven means they had been citizens for 7 years." 1890 Census, Yukon, OK.pdf 581 Kb
Homestead final receipt record of Jim Slavik dated 8-Oct-1898. The application number of 351 ties to the "number of receipt and certificate of purchase" number in the 1889 land run document. Jim Slavik Homestead Receipt.pdf 1.025 Mb
Land record of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma Territory, date unknown. The record shows the land ownership of Jim Slavik. Go across to the 4th column and all the way to the bottom. This document directly ties to the homestead receipt that notes the land description as the south-east quarter (SE4) of Section 32 in Township 12 of Range 5. Jim Slavik Land Record.pdf 249 Kb
1900 Federal Census of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma Territory, dated 12-Jun-1900. Notice that the Joseph A. Ruzicka family was living in Yukon at the same time. The document has been split into two pages as the library systems only allow printing on 8½" x 11" paper. 1900 Census, Yukon, OK (Slavik).pdf 830 Kb
Estate sale details of W. W. Bledsoe, dated 25-Aug-1908. The 2nd entry from the bottom shows Jim Slavik purchasing a Kraut Cutter for $0.65. This great find was provided by Jean Kyle on 05-Dec-1997, and she noted, "I just got a probate packet on a relative of mine W. W. Bledsoe who was married to my great aunt Anna Griffin. I was so surprised when reading the list of people who purchased items at the auction on Aug 25, 1908 there was Jas Slavik who purchased a kraut cutter for .65. So my relatives and yours knew each other, in fact lived about a mile from each other. Just thought I would pass that on." Jim Slavik Auction Purchase.pdf 446 Kb
1910 Federal Census of Yukon, Canadian County, Oklahoma, dated 25-Apr-1910. Every time I look at this page I am stunned by the penmanship of the person that recorded the data. I wish all census pages looked this great. 1910 Census, Yukon, OK.pdf 1.197 Mb
Dominion of Canada Certificate of Naturalization of James Slavik dated 23-Jun-1931 (37 years to the day earlier than my birthday). James Slavik Certificate of Naturalization.pdf 697 Kb

Aurania, departed ville de Cherbourg en Normandie, France, on 16-Jun-1928 and arrived in Quebec City, Quebec, on 23-Jun-1928 (40 years to the day earlier than my birthday). It documents the arrival of Henry Staroba and notes Viking, Alberta, as his destination. The $25 he had in his pocket translates to about $275 dollars in 2003. Take a look at the Family Photographs page to see a picture of this and other ships. S.S. Aurania Passenger Manifest.pdf 764 Kb
