As I understand it, my great grandfather, John, left Bohemia in the early 1800's and arrived in Spillville, Iowa, where he (they?) stayed for a time before migrating to Veseleyville/Pisek (ND) area. My paternal grandmother was born in Bohemia in the latter part of the 1800's, and came to the Veselyville area where she married Charles John Ruzicka around 1905. Her maiden name: Mary Zeman. Thanks again, Darryn

My family name is also Ruzicka on my father's side. My grandfather's name is Joseph Donald Ruzicka. I have not done any research into my family tree, however, I do know that the Ruzicka's originated in Czechoslavakia. My grandfather and his siblings are from the Baltimore, Maryland area. Could we be any relation? It would be interesting to see!

Do you know any Ruzickas in Missouri? I married Thomas Ruzicka in 1970. He is the son of Mary and Frank Ruzicka of St. Louis, Missouri. They had 8 children -- Mary, Judy, Francis, Thomas, Joseph, Elaine, Stephen and Anthony. Mary (my mother-in-law) has a sister, Dolores, who married Leonard Ruzicka and they have 14 children. She also has a sister, Eleanor, who has 8 children. Most of these people are married with their own families. So the Ruzicka clan is growing by leaps and bounds.

I just found your home page and feel certain there is a connection between your ancestors and mine. I have seen some documents in my mother's possession in a language that I don't understand, but names and places stand out. Next time I visit her I will look again. Perhaps you could translate for me. I have been interested in researching my family tree for a long time, but have never gone beyond their life in the USA. My great grandfather was Francis Jablecnik. Born Nov 23, 1853 in Kozohlody, Bohemia. Married on July 7, 1878. I know they had at least one child born and died before they came to this country. My great grandfather was named after the dead child. They had 3 children in this country--Francis L., William, and Henry. My grandfather, Francis Louis Jablecnik, was born on July 06, 1885, in Union Hill (now Union City), New Jersey.

Hi Darryn, what a great amount of Ruzickas you have found. I can't help but think that some of mine are in here somewhere, but I can't seem to make a match-up. I even took the trouble of visiting Dr. Ruzicka's site (in German) to see if any dates or names remotely matched up. I am seeking info on sisters, Frances (b.1848) and Dorothy Anastasia (b.approx 1855)Ruzicka, who both married Musel brothers in Chelsea, IA. anyone else who sees this an may have some info, please email me!!!!
